Bite me, California

Tuesday 13th July, 11.30pm

Ohhh. non-water-saving shower heads.

I’d forgotten what it was like to have that glorious, warm cascade of water down my back. I think I may have to go away more often in the future, just for the fantastic showering opportunities. Or I suppose I could start supporting the development of the desalination plant back home ...

I just washed my hair, too. The shampoo they have in the hotel is cinnamon-flavoured, the conditioner smells like custard, the body lotion smells similarly like something vaguely sweet and delicious, and as a result I feel as edible as the granola bar in the welcome bag they gave us at the front counter when we checked in.

I have heard an awful lot of talk about the sugar-infused American diet, so maybe the hotel’s suppliers are just taking that whole ‘you are what you eat’ thing a little too seriously.

I’m fitting right in with the locals though. Today, I had a bagel and shit coffee for breakfast, went to Barnes and Noble, walked past Starbucks three times, looked around in Tiffanys but didn’t even come close to being able to afford anything, ate two Pop Tarts (which are pretty good, but, sadly, totally overrated), and am currently watching the PILOT EPISODE (yeah, that's right, the PILOT) of a new TV show*. I just need to start saying ‘Mel-BORN’ and then I can probably start filling out my immigration papers.

(Except that I like saying ‘Melbourne’ just fine. And asking for coffee, and actually getting, you know, coffee.)

Tomorrow night we leave for New York City! I can stop singing Phantom Planet’s California and start on some Frank Sinatra. I’m kind of slightly unbelievably excited right now.

San Francisco, USA

* It's called Covert Affairs, has that chic from Coyote Ugly, the cute guy from Popular and Sandy Cohen from The OC, and is basically just a less-good version of Alias. Why can't they play a (probably) good pilot like Rex Is Not Your Lawyer**?

** Oh, speaking of, I should probably add David Tennant to the list of people I expect to bump into in LA. Eeeet'll happen.

I'm back at uni and after a week done I want to curl up and cry... ALL GROUP WORK and to top that I was lucky enough to get the ultimate group. a bunch of kids I've never seen before that just want to scrap a pass... and, if I'd given myself one less point in the little system he used to divide us I would have been in the ultimate group which has the top people in it bar one! And. My elbows and knees are both bruised and painful because I just ran a minute ago literally to try and get the phone and slipped and did a 360. very quick and quite painful on tiles!

  3. class? more like enjoyment haha. BUT its totally good because he's teaching environmental studies and design so thats even more enjoyable. And if anyone walks into our lecture late we all boo them and if anyones phone goes off in class he gets to answer it and then they have to tell the lecture a joke! then the same in our tutes if we get a question wrong or are the last to say an answer (its like this quiz and were given a,b,c and d pages) we also tell a joke. so far I haven't gotten any wrong phew but joke quality = seriously low.
oh and so funny, first tute he was going through the class list and when he said my full name I said oh just call me bella and then he's like cheers bella you can call me rick.... in a totally funny non rude way. he's such a laugh!
haha follow you eh? what does that involve... sounds rather stalkerish to me...
p.s. I had a design review yesterday and it went swimmingly :)
